Smoking marijuana to treat health ailments like the symptoms from cancer chemotherapy, lenox-gusto syndrome and other conditions does provide some relief and benefits according to the National Institute of Health. That said, smoking marijuana daily and abusing the drug can have serious harmful side effects. Dr. Parham Yashar, MD FACS FAANS Board Certified Neurosurgeon at Dignity Health Northridge Hospital, says, "There is evidence that regular use of cannabis results in changes in the brain, especially in the hippocampus and amygdala—which can have effects on attention, memory, decision-making, and emotional processing, among others." He adds, "Although it is not well-understood, evidence from both animal and human studies suggest that regular heavy use of marijuana and cannabis in adolescents is associated with more persistent negative outcomes than use in adults. This suggests that the young brain may be more vulnerable to the effects of cannabis exposure compared to the adult brain, and its effects on the adolescent brain have been thought to increase the risk of developing mental illnesses such as addiction and psychosis." Eat This, Not That! Health talked with Dr. Joseph Haraszti MD, a world-renowned Psychiatrist and Addictionlogist in Pasadena, CA who explains the damaging effects smoking marijuana can have.
Pure bullshit!!!
ReplyDeleteHowever the pot these days is and and can be very strong. Minors should not be allowed their hands on this as I agree it can be detrimental.
I don't need Dr. Joe telling me the obvious.
DeleteIt is bs as the first part of the piece is speaking of all people who smoke pot.
You missed it too Jerry.
From the article: "This suggests that the young brain may be more vulnerable to the effects of cannabis exposure compared to the adult brain"
DeleteThis is basically what you said, "Minors should not be allowed their hands on this as I agree it can be detrimental."
Your first line doesn't coincide with your second line and your second line mimics and agrees with the article.
ReplyDeleteDo you know any regular pot smokers personally, whose mental agility you question and wonder if it because they smoke to much pot?
Lighten up just a bit.
ReplyDeleteTalking about two different things - adults and minors. No matter what marijuana is the drug of choice for hundreds of millions around the globe. Has been for some time and will continue.
I don't question people I know who smoke ability at all. No reason to because it's not an issue. The piece reminds me of the old days of pot hysteria. Adults can make this choice because - well they are adults.
My main point on this was kids. The pot these days isn't this Mexican seedy shit where you needed to smoke a couple joints to get much of a buzz.
I have an educated clue on this and I don't want ass kicking pot. I don't like it so much at all. If kids smoke much of this hi-grade pot in their formulative years they will be harmed by it.
I'm better off smoking pot and put down the booze decades ago. Walking around the south side of Puerto Vallarta just a bit ago like always what I see and saw like always was fat tattooed white people sitting around with 90% of the men with goat beards and sunglasses all drinking alcohol. It's the boozers who have substance abuse issues.
Many were hoping legalization here in Mexico would have happened by now. Almost twice it did and think it will. Then maybe there can be a bit better quality because it's not that good at all.
A day with pot is a better day than a day without. Just the way it is.
This article is backed by research of neuro scientist, and again you are agreeing with their conclusions.
