There are always alternatives Dave. I agree with Jerry Critter, these actions are simply unacceptable. We arrest people for breaking the law, we don't just shoot them, beat them, or gas them. It's not just a let them in unaccounted for, or kill them situation. We are smarter and better than that.
These people have come to the border to request asylum. There is a legal process to follow. We should be assisting with that process, not trying to deny them the process. Let the process work. Those that don’t qualify will be sent home.
Trump is just using these people to stir up hatred and bigotry among his supporters. He is using people who are suffering as political pawns in his game of power. It is disgusting!
Jerry... clearly there are alternatives, but the left hasn't been real good at annunciating them. Simply saying it sucks, with an alternative is not a winning message, or solution.
If that alternative is more humane than Trump's actions?
Trump is using his typical answer to everything. Using ignorance, bigotry, hate, and even violence to address the problem. See my response on Shaw's blog. It's not a complete answer, but it is more humane and typically American.
Milk and cookies, along with wire-cutters, would send a more welcoming message.

Guys... I'm not advocating violence against the migrants. But what alternative are there if in fact a president does not want to let the folks in?
